Heritage Conservation

Posted Nov 7, 2012 by: Phil

Living in Sussex we have many sustainable woodlands on our doorsteps and Heritage Conservation makes good use of these. The timber we use is purchased locally, hence when lighting our fires it can have a positive effect on our carbon footprint. Due to the low emissions and transport costs the savings are also passed on through a keener price.

Customers can select exactly what they want: Sussex LOGS - the type of wood, is it for open fires, wood burners or stove logs, size of LOG, 6-8 inch, 8-10 inch or16-18 inch.  Quantities, in a net due to tight storage, in a crate where the customer can collect logs, stack the LOGS into the car leaving the crate behind or in a loose load delivered to their door

KINDLING is available in nets to be picked up or delivered with your order, FIRELIGHTERS are also on hand. COAL is available in three types, HOUSE COAL, SMOKLESS and ECOAL, each are in 25kg bags.

When visiting ‘The Wood Yard’ you will see Della, she has been working there for three years, and runs the shop and office on site. At a recent interview she stated “I’ve been greeted by so many people saying “Wow what a wonderful place”, when they first visit and I can’t agree more”

The Wood Shop is full of lovely hand crafted wood products, Coat Hooks, Wellie Racks, Brooms and Hurdles. There are LOG CANDLES for outdoor events, they give heat as well as light. The wonderful smell of “The Wood Yard” is all around, and it is a special place to visit in a Sussex woodland.

To find “The Wood Yard”, follow the A272 across the A24 heading west. When approaching the crossroads, left for Shipley and right for Southwater, look for a turning on the right about 50 metres before the crossroads. You will see 2 signs saying “The Wood Yard”, Turn into the track and it will lead you to the yard in a clearing. If you get to the Shipley/Southwater crossroads you have gone too far, 50 metres too far.

With winter fuel prices reaching new levels, our LOGS are even more in demand,  visit the Heritage Conservation web site or ring Della on 01403 330236.
Or phone OLUS on 01273 492752 or pay Della a visit and see for yourselves.
