Meet the Guys at the Wood Yard!

Well the Wood Yard has been a hive of activity preparing for the winter season, making sure we have enough seasoned Logs in stock ready for our customers this winter. Last winter seemed to last forever, but we are prepared.

Are you?

Jacob our Production Manager has been with us 4 years, before working with us he studied and became a Tree Surgeon. This he decided wasn’t really for him however he still wanted to be involved with forestry and this role he feels suits him well.

Jacob personally goes out and sources the wood ensuring quality within the Sussex and Surrey area.

This happens all year to ensure that we always have enough seasoned wood to store and sell as a quality product to our customers.

We also have Tom our Machine Operative he hasn’t been with us very long, he is also an experienced Tree Surgeon; Tom still does private work in between working at the Wood Yard. His main role is processing the Logs ensuring that we have enough stock to see us through, helping Jacob with the smooth running of the Wood Yard.

Speaking to both Jacob and Tom they both agree that the highlights of working at the Wood Yard are working outside and not being restricted to an office. Also never knowing what to expect out of the day with the variety of their role everyday is different.

The guys often see Buzzards and Deer; also Wild Horses have been seen around the site, so they really are at one with nature.

Walking around the Wood Yard you forget that you are so close to the main road it is almost enchanting.

The only thing that can get these guys down is the mud as this can be a bit of nightmare in winter. Don’t let that put you off as we are working to combat this issue. All will be revealed soon, watch this space!

At The Wood Yard we have seen sales raise, this is mainly due to our loyal customers along with the reputation that we have created. We have a lot of referrals from our existing customers, which means a lot to us so thank you very much.  

The main bulk of our customers come from the local area however we have had people from as far as London coming down to look around our Wood Yard and purchasing our Logs.
