The benefits of leaves in compost

The Strengthening Autumn Winds and the benefits of those fallen leaves.
A gradual change has taken place, whilst the temperature has kept mild. Over the last two weeks the winds have strengthened and even the oak trees have lost many leaves, some are now bare. Frosts over night have hastened the leaf drop. Here at Olus we have seen the make up of the green waste change, to a lighter brown product going through the start of the compost program. The addition of leaves into the COMPOST is always welcome, they not only add nutrients to the finished COMPOST, but also help in lightening heavy soils.
Over the years I have been caught out several times, I do not like to admit it but I have. In my mind the garden fence panels are fine for many more seasons at least I convince myself of this, and rest easy. Then after a prolonged wet and windy spell of weather a very strong wind takes some panels beyond their capabilities. At Heritage Conservation, The Wood Yard, we have an array of fencing products; LARCH LAP and HEAVY DUTY FENCE PANELS, both come in 3’, 4’, 5’, & 6’sizes. There are also HAZEL HURDLES, CHESTNUT GATE HURDLES and CHESTNUT POST & RAIL all adding a more rustic look to the landscape. CHESTNUT TREE STAKES are also available in 5’, & 6’, lengths and in 1”to 2”, & 2”to3” widths for securing trees and shrubs.
