Organic compost from Sussex christmas green waste
You may think that the Winter months are a quiet time for Olus but this is most definitely not the case. During the months leading up to December our intake of green waste, ready to be turned into our 10 mm compost, does gradually tail off, and certainly during December we see a much lower intake through our site. However, after the Local Authorities shut down for the Christmas and New Year bank holidays, as soon as the Civic Amenity tips open and dustcarts start to run again we have an influx of Christmas trees and garden leaves ready to be recycled along with all the regular garden waste created throughout West Sussex.
Our team of machine operatives at our site at Wineham, Sussex, use the quieter months to give all our machinery a well deserved, thorough service and some much needed, tender loving care so that they can work at full capacity through our busy season of shredding, screening, turning and delivering 10 mm compost and agricultural grade compost.
Stocking up on bulk landscaping products
This time is also used to stock up on all our bulk bags of landscaping materials that we supply to both domestic and commercial customers, this includes Bark, Woodland Mulch, topsoil along with other building materials, and smaller 40 litre bags of compost / soil conditioner.
In the office, the Sales Team use this quieter time to catch up on jobs that often get left on the back burner and take less priority through the busier time of the year. This winter in particular, has been busier than usual as the Sales and Management Team are preparing to move to a new office premises at our Sussex site and are looking forward to having more room to work. Along with this move will come a new and updated web site, and a new stock control / sales computer package all to improve our stock control, delivery system and our overall service to our customers for compost and general landscaping supplies.
So do not think that Olus are spending the winter with little to do, we aim to be ready to attack the Spring with enthusiasm and our commitment to quality providing a better product and service than ever!
